25 Vocabulary Activities for Word Nerds!

A Word Nerd is a person who loves vocabulary! These 25 vocabulary activities provide students with opportunities to integrate and use vocabulary in a variety of ways! Each assignment requires students to think critically and creatively about word meanings by engaging in word play assignments.

This resource includes eight different booklet covers (Math, Social Studies, Science, and one Open-Ended cover, each with a boy and girl design). There are 25 pages of vocabulary exercises to choose from, as pages may be mixed and matched to create one-of-a-kind booklets! Booklets may have as many or as few pages as you choose. Since there are booklets on several topics, more than one may be used at a time. Another option is to use these activities as single, half-page assignments!

There are a variety of ways to use 25 Vocabulary Activities for Word Nerds!

*Students may use a vocabulary list and/or Word Wall to complete activities. (At least one is required.)

*Vocabulary activities may be completed in a whole group setting as vocabulary is introduced and studied.

*Vocabulary activities may be implemented into center or station work.

*Vocabulary activities may be completed by early finishers.

*Vocabulary activities may be assigned for homework.

As teachers teach Common Core standards, vocabulary development is essential. As students expand their vocabulary, they will think more critically and communicate more effectively. (They’ll also be better prepared for standardized testing!) These booklets are one way to help integrate meaningful practice of vocabulary in your classroom!
